Alpha

What is it?

The Alpha Course is a "practical introduction to the Christian faith. It is designed primarily for non-church goers and those who have recently become Christians. It was established at Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB), London, over twenty years ago and there are now more than 17,000 Alpha courses throughout the world, and almost 2,500 courses in the United States.

Alpha is a flexible and pragmatic model that works for any group of any size. Churches and Christian organizations of every background and denomination are discovering it to be a simple and effective way of presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ in a clear and non-threatening manner to people from all walks of life."

How does it work at ECA?

Our Alpha Courses are held in private homes.  In addition to the course leaders, there are typically 6 to 10 course attendees.  Evenings begin at 6:30 pm.  Dinner is always included, and is provided on a rotational basis by members of our congregation.  Our format includes appetizers before and during the video so no one will starve.  The presentation is discussed over dinner.  We strive to be prompt to close and have you on your way by 9:00 pm.

There is no fee and no homework.  Participation in discussion is always voluntary.  Everyone's opinions and feelings will be respected.

Attendance at as many dinners as possible is highly recommended to get the most you can from this program.  The Holy Spirit Saturday is also a very key element to Alpha.
