(SHYG) Activities
For September and October 2008
Sunday, September 7th
The first Regular SHYG Meeting of the 2008-2009 year is this
Sunday from 6-8pm at the Church. As usual dinner is being provided
by volunteers—thank you parents. All High School Youth
are welcome and encouraged to attend. At this first meeting
among things we’ll be discussing upcoming plans including
some activities to add to the schedule.
 Saturday, September 13th
SHYG is going to the Great America Amusement Park. Specifics
of trip (cost, time, mode of travel, etc…) are still
being worked out —we’ll announce the details at
our first meeting and email out it out to the SHYG early next
week. Each SHYG member is encouraged invite a (non-SHYG) friend
to attend.
Sunday, September 21st
Youth Carwash (SHYG & JHYG) is scheduled at Church from
7am-3pm. As has been the plan in the past we hope wash your
vehicle while you are worshiping. Jim McPherson and Bryan Bond
have graciously volunteered to oversee the Youth Carwash; if
possible please help them when they ask for your assistance.
The funds will be used for upcoming activities, youth-selected
charity, and community service projects. Tickets to have your
vehicle(s) washed can be purchased on Sunday, September 7th
and 14th after each service in fellowship hall; $7 per car
and $10 for SUV/truck. One of the rate limiting steps in the
carwash is maintaining enough dry towels. To help alleviate
this issue the SHYG is seeking donations from both congregations
of “old towels”. Please leave them in the hallway
outside the Christian/Youth Office.

We have been blessed with a great group of kids at ECA and
UCC. I am looking forward to a great year with the SHYG and
welcome your comments, suggestions, and assistance.

Junior High Youth Group
The JHYGS group had an all
too quick summer of bowling, miniature golf, board games,
movies and just enjoying the time away from school, but
all good things come to an end, and everyone is back to
school by now. (sad face) But, the good news is -the JHYGS
group is amping up for a year of fun, community service,
faith building, and meeting and developing new friends!
Some of the highlights of the coming two months are a
CAR WASH on 9/21, from 7am to 1pm, during church services,
for both SHYGS and JHYGS, to raise money for our group's
coming activities and for a nest egg to use for some community
service projects to be named later. We will be starting
a multi-meeting discussion of what God means to us, how
do we see him in our daily lives, what does it mean to
be one of God's children? But, best of all, we have a ROPE'S
COURSE (Camp Oakhust) planned for SHYGS and JHYGS, on 10/24
and 10/25, where we are leaving the church after school
on a Friday, and doing some incredible activities all day
Saturday, and then driving home Saturday night. (Way tired
adults on Saturday night).
So what does this all mean...well if
you are a youth, come on down. We meet on Sundays, the
SHYGS, (9th grade to 12th) on one Sunday, and the JHYGS,
(6th-8th) the next Sunday, at 6-8pm, all through the school
year. Are you shy, or not sure about all this--give us
a try, and bring a friend, we'd love to have you! Hope
