April 2000 Vestry Minutes
Vestry Meeting: April 11, 2000
Attendees:
Belinda Byerly-Robins, Alex Dershimer, Beverley Deveaux, Terry Gooding,
Susie Ferguson, Brenda McHenry, Natalie Mena, Russ Petruzzelli, Ginger Redman,
Nolan Redman, Roberta Verderico, Joan Wagner, Warren Willard.
Absent: Ed Mueller,
The March 14, 2000 vestry meeting minutes were read. A motion was made to
approve the minutes as read by Brenda Mc Henry. Warren Willard seconded the
motion and the motion was approved.
The Financial Report was read. The Episcopal Church in Almaden has a
balanced budget.
A motion was made to approve the financial report as read by Alex Dershimer.
Terry Gooding seconded the motion and the motion was approved.
Old Business:
1. Sufficient number and sizes of acolyte gowns have been found in the
ECA closet.
2. An audit of the 1999 ECA financial records was performed. A motion to
accept the report was made by Russ Petruzzelli and seconded by Beverley
Deveaux.
New Business:
1. A presentation by the Santa Maria Urban Mission will be made to the
vestry next month.
2. Insurance Company requires Adult Lay persons who work with
adult/children to attend a program on ethical sexual conduct workshop to
be held 4/29/00 at St. Edwards – 8:30 am. – 2pm.
Ministries Reports
Senior Warden: Brenda McHenry
1. May 6th Diocesan Conference "Strengthening
Congregational Life.
2. Diocesan Camp Program for Kids
Jr. Wardens: Belinda and Russ
1. Pac Bell proposal was voted down.
2. No JV work day prior to Easter
Christian Education: Susie Ferguson
A "Kids Break Out" program (1st – 5th
grade) will start after Easter.
Evangelism: Roberta and Susie
Brainstorm: Invitation to join the ECA community.
1. Alpha Program
2. Bring your friend to church on Sunday
3. Bring your friend to Christian Education Programs.
4. Advertising:
A motion to spend $400 for the purchase of water bottles advertising
ECA was made by Russ and seconded by Terry. This motion did not reach
consensus with the vestry.
5. Growth Sunday.
Finance: Ed Mueller
In reach/ Charitable Contributions: Terry Gooding
Charitable Contributions Committee members have been determined:
Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Chairman of the Investment Committee and
In-reach/Charitable Contributions Chairman
Outreach: Warren, Roberta, and Beverley
Stewardship: Ed Mueller and Brenda McHenry
Worship: Ginger Redman
Dory Torrey will be preaching every other Sunday during July and
August.
Jerry Drino will be coming to ECA in August.
Youth: Alex Dershimer
The youth committee is looking for a youth minister. Volunteers needed.
