Vestry Meeting Information Focus

April: Focus on Youth:

Nolan presented minutes from the Youth Meeting held 4/11/99. Kids were given an opportunity to discuss what they wanted /did not want in a youth leader. UCC and ECA will hold a meeting with parents on youth leader selection within the next couple of weeks. Youth are interested in participating in leader selection and search.

Will youth leader be a paid position? This has not been decided. This is a tough job.

Robin Root, Parent Comments

Kids are very sophisticated today. Look for some one who will give the youth respect and be able to deal with the tough issues. Small group of youth and this should be a safe place. Not too many boys in group

Sixty youth available for attendance. Split 50-50 between middle school and high school.

Leader with ability to teach mentoring skills is needed. Program with a good mix of service and fun.

Approachable adult

Events learning about relationships. Sense of community for church or un-churched. Dealing with issues that face youth in everyday lives. Youth Advisors may be needed. May want to consider a team approach.

Define the program and expectations prior to leader search. A job description will be posted (Youth’s idea). There are parents who are willing to help.

Parents meeting proposed for April 25,1999 5 - 6:30pm -

Baby sitter availability suggested.
