Vestry Minute Highlights

Attendees:

Belinda Byerly-Robins, Alex Dershimer, Beverley Deveaux , Susie Ferguson, Brenda McHenry, Natalie Mena, Ed Mueller, Russ Petruzzelli, Ginger Redman, Nolan Redman, Joan Wagner, Warren Willard.

Absent: Terry Gooding, Roberta Verderico,

The November 14, 2000 vestry meeting minutes were read. A motion was made to approve the minutes as read, by Brenda McHenry. Alex Dershimer seconded the motion and the motion was approved.

The Financial Report

The ECA financial status is under control. A donation of $9000 in stock was made to this year’s budget. One third of this donation was stipulated for the organ fund. This transactions is not included in the November report. Alex Dershimer moved to approve the financial report. The motion was seconded by Beverley Deveaux and the motion was approved.

Old Business:

The ECA field education student’s progress has been seen as very positive. Ken is in touch with the valley. He is a warm and sincere person. Ken would welcome input from the congregation on his progress.

New Business:

  1. A Congregational Revitalization Program is scheduled to be held at St. Paul’s, Salinas at 9am on 3/17/01.
  2. Stewardship: 62 Pledges have been received. A letter has been sent to a list of prospects in order to increase the pledge numbers to 100.
  3. The annual meeting will be held on 1/14/01.
  4. The following nominations to the vestry have been made:
    Dave Thomas, Len Whitlock, Bonnie and Peter ___________.
    The Joint Venture Board Representatives are Amy Griffith and Roger Hoyt.
  5. The Clergy Housing Allowance was discussed.

Ministries Reports

Senior Warden: Brenda McHenry

A $5000 pledge to the Guadalupe Mission requires a formal pledge card with signatures. This will be sent in by Brenda.

Jr. Wardens: Belinda and Russ

  1. Two new clean outs have been installed at the church.
  2. A successful grounds and building work day was held.
  3. The termites will be addressed in January.
  4. An unknown person painted the curbs by the driveways.
  5. A break in the sewer line has been found. The repair costs $1300.
  6. The tree lot is no longer taxed and will be saving JV $1400/ year. Thank you Nolan.
  7. Rectory repairs required: shower stall, drapes, ovens, and deck.. These will be addressed in 2001.

Christian Education: Susie Ferguson

The Christmas Pagent will be held on12/17/00 at 10 am. There will be no 11 am. Service and no Sunday School until January 7th, 2001.

In reach/ Charitable Contributions: Terry Gooding:  No report.

Outreach: Warren, Roberta, and Beverley

There are transportation issues with bringing the Akui family to church. Requires two cars/Sunday. Susie Ferguson made a motion to have the vestry be willing to explore the possibility of getting a van/bus. Alex Dershimer seconded the motion and the vestry members approved it.

Worship: Ginger Redman  No report.

Youth: Alex Dershimer :

The youth program adopts a family for Christmas. The Santa Maria Urban Mission has found a family in need.

Communications: Belinda, Russ:  No report.

Growth: Susie Ferguson  No report.
