Vestry Meeting

In Lele Blackman's absence Ken McCormick recorded the minutes.
Discussion Items
Bev discussed the reason of the vestry meeting called as a result of the
Sunday 2-24-02 meeting with the parish search committee and their chair David
Byers. There are unclear issues for this new vestry and this meeting was
necessary for additional understanding of these issues.
The communications committee received an email from David Byers containing
the search committee timeline and the future roles of the vestry and search
committee. The communications committee will contact David for clarification
of the 2-27-02 e-mail and will report the results to the vestry.
The role of the Search Committee and the Communications Committee in
relation to how to get information to the church members was explored. The
result was a recommendation to the Communication Committee that they write
monthly articles for the Shape. The Search Committee, before publication,
would review the articles.
A recommendation was made to post the Search Committee timeline on the
bulletin board for all church members to view regular updates would be made,
(also stating that dates may change). Dave Byers will be contacted to discuss
this proposal; request input from the Search Committee and that the Search
Committee is comfortable with posting the timeline.
Bev suggested contacting the Bishop to arrange an interim priest after
Nolan's departure on July 7th. This will be on the agenda for discussion at
the April meeting.
Allan Jones asked all vestry members respond to what the vestry requires
from the communications committee and what the principles of the vestry are.
The vestry members reviewed the letter presented by Len Whitlock and the
finance committee. This letter will be sent to all church members detailing
our financial shortage and the need for all families to pledge. The vestry
members read and approved the letter for distribution.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee agreed that they would meet with the search
committee and report to the vestry.
