February '99 Vestry Meeting

In Attendance
Nolan Redman, Kimberly Axtell, Doug Dunham, Susie Ferguson, Terry Gooding, Ron Howie, Brenda McHenry, Natalie Mena, Ed Mueller, Russ Petruzzelli, Roberta Verderico, Warren Willard.

Absent
Kathy Dunham, Terry Francis (These members were in attendance at our retreat; however, had to leave prior to our business meeting which we held at the end of our retreat day.)

The meeting was commenced at 2:45 pm, following our Vestry Retreat, by our Rector, Nolan Redman, with prayer.  The minutes of the January Vestry meeting were approved as corrected (the date).  The Financial Report was not available on our retreat day, so we deferred discussion and approval until the March meeting.

Ed Mueller presented the 1999 Budget Report.  Our Diocesan Assessment for 1999 came in larger than was anticipated by $2,877.  Ed plans to research the formula and figures for the increased assessment before our March meeting.  It was however, moved, seconded, and approved that we apply some of our carry over funds from 1998 to offset the Diocesan Assessment increase.

It was moved, seconded, and passed with one abstention, to direct the Investment Committee to sell our Select 10 investment.  This direction was in response to the Diocesan Convention and its desires to have parishes in socially responsible investments.

It was moved, seconded and passed to take the expenses for the Vestry Retreat out of undesignated funds.  Receipts should be submitted to Maryke.

Joint Venture Report
Belinda Byerly-Robins will be President of the Joint Venture Council for 1999.  Other members from ECA will include Ed Dykes, Pat Fox, Joe Machado and Barbara Robinson.  The representatives from the Vestry will be Doug Dunham and Ron Howie, who are co Junior Wardens for 1999.  The biggest problem currently facing JV is termites.  Bids are currently being gathered and will need to be evaluated.

Doug Dunham reported for Kathy (Junior Warden of 1998) that the hiring of a gardener for the rectory is still being actively pursued.

Senior Warden Report
Brenda McHenry, our Senior Warden for 1999, reminded the Vestry members that each will have a mailbox in the rolling cart outside the office.   She encouraged each of us to check it regularly (on Sundays might be a good day).

Stewardship Report
We currently have 87 pledging units out of 147 possible family pledging units.

The following items were submitted to be placed on the March Vestry Agenda:  the master calendar and service music.  Call Nolan if you have any items you wish to put on the agenda.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 pm.

-Susie Ferguson, Clerk for the Day
