Vestry Meeting Highlights

Attendees:

Ann Avoux, Belinda Byerly-Robins, Beverley Deveaux, Patty Fryer, Natalie Mena, Russ Petruzzelli, Ginger Redman, Nolan Redman, Warren Willard.

Absent: Dave Thomas, Roberta Verderico, Len Whitlock and Joan Wagner, vestry clerk.

The meeting started with a presentation by a Church Directory salesperson. ECA is considering purchasing a package. They are able to provide the directory at low cost because their profit is gained by selling family portraits.

Minutes Approval

The December 11, 2001 vestry meeting minutes were read. Approved with minor corrections.

Lele Blackman was unanimously approved as vestry clerk for 2002.

Nolan reported that the Bishop consented to the pre-postulent entry to seminary of Belinda. Vestry members were asked to state why they feel she is qualified. All voiced positive remarks. Vestry members signed a statement of why we should support her.

Warren Willard, representing the vestry nomination committee, reported that four people have accepted nominations. They are: Elizabeth Ward, Ken McCormick, Alex Dikes, and Jodi Purcell-Brinson.

Nominees for the JV board are: Alan Jones (president), and Betty Consorte.

The Delegate to Convention nominee is: Natalie Mena.

A motion was passed for the next vestry to attend vestry training day on February 9th 2002. Signup deadline is two weeks prior. (Jan 25th)

An Ethical Sexual Conduct class is scheduled for February 2, 2002 at St. Edwards Hall. It is very important that the vestry attend. Vestry/rector insurance requires attendance.

FISH REPORTS

Finance

Approval of Financial Report:

The ECA vestry reviewed and unanimously approved the financial report. The only note is that Babysitting expenses are rising. Additional monies are budgeting for next year.

Len and Ginger will follow up on pledges from people who pledged last year and have not yet pledged for next year.

Investment Committee Report: None.

Illumined:

The camping trip is still on for May. It is on Pentecost Sunday. Belinda is leading this trip.

Shine: No report.

House: (Junior Warden’s Report) – No new activity. Nolan noted that a little Roundup is needed in the frontyard of the rectory.

Joint Venture Churches Report: No Activity.

Rector’s Remarks:

Once the pledge drive is complete, Nolan plans to send out a Thank-you letter.

Nolan was absent from the January Joint Venture meeting so there is no report.

The Bylaws need review. We are going to try and post them on the website as a pdf file.

We still need more Shape articles! Everyone was asked to make an effort to write something the Shape.

Dori Torrey will preach on Sunday, January 20th.
