Absent: Beverley Deveaux

The May 9, 2000 vestry meeting minutes were read. A motion was made to approve the minutes as read by Brenda Mc Henry. Belinda Byerly-Robins seconded the motion and the motion was approved.

The Financial Report was not available for June’s vestry meeting. A verbal report was given by Ed Mueller on behalf of Maryke Williams. ECA is in good financial shape.

Old Business:

The Field Education program requires a Field Education Committee. Dori Torrey discussed committee requirements with the vestry. There is no set number of members. A chairman is required to write an evaluation on behalf of the congregation. There will be a ‘Training Day’ in the fall/spring held at the seminary for the committee members.

This committee will act as a sounding board (cheerleader role) for the F.E. Student. Forms are available for sermon evaluation. The student draws up a contract for his/her learning experience and sets own personal goals. The vestry will have three months to form the F.E. committee to be ready in the fall. Committee meetings are usually held once a month.

The vestry should think about people who would be good candidates for a committee that would be a representation of the ECA congregation. Committee will represent both early/late services, old, young. Seven members is a good number.

New Business:

  1. Dori Torrey will be available throughout the summer. She will be answering phone messages at the church on behalf of Nolan.
  2. Nolan found the back deck of the rectory infested with subterranean termites. The Junior Warden needs to evaluate this issue. The rectory will require a termite inspection. Nolan will not replace any more of the deck until evaluation of the issue is completed.
  3. Joint Venture is advertising for a Youth Leader. This will be a paid position. The Christian Ed. 10am hour will be used for youth to come together. Social activities will be held at other times. There was a suggestion that ECA, UCC, Holy Spirit and Saint Anthony meet together for social activities to obtain ‘critical mass’.

The first family fun day was held. Eighty (80) people came. Two events have been planned per year. These are FREE. The next event will be held October 8, 2000 right after the late church service.
