New Business
1. Margaret Kvamme requested $2,000.00 to advertise for concert programs.
This includes a possible budget shortfall of approximately $125.00.
2. She submitted a list of questions pertaining to the music program that she
would like rector candidates to be asked. Margaret emphasized/educated the
vestry about the uniqueness and diversity of our music, the important role it
maintains for Joint Venture congregations, and the significance of a rector
being sensitive to our music programs. The Vestry appreciates her interest,
contributions, and insight.
A motion was made to deny the request due to an operating shortfall in the
ECA Budget. One abstained and the majority agreed. She will be invited to
submit another request when the church budget issue has been resolved.
Bev
UCC Council would like to meet with the Vestry to discuss how we
function/operate. Due to our many additional responsibilities, this is not
possible. A meeting date will be discussed/planned for another time.
Search Committee Update
Dave Byers and Doug Dunham stated clergy responses have been excellent and
there is good representation in the candidates, both male and female. June
10th is the deadline for applying for the position. Chosen candidates are
specifically located west of the Mississippi River. Email is used for
communication with candidates and the expediency is helpful. Interviews are in
process and are going nicely. Some candidates have school age children this is
a consideration in the time frame of moving.
Doug and Dave stated concern of "maintaining" the candidates
interest in the position, not going to slow or fast in the process and other
opportunities a candidate could have.
Dave affirmed the Vestry is to receive a summary of information for each
candidate. He will assist Vestry members interpret clergy profiles and assist
the Vestry to not replicate Search Committee information and processes.
