October 2000 Vestry Minutes


Vestry Meeting: October 10, 2000

Attendees:

Belinda Byerly-Robins, Alex Dershimer, Beverley Deveaux, Terry Gooding, Susie Ferguson, Brenda McHenry, Natalie Mena, Ed Mueller, Russ Petruzzelli, Ginger Redman, Nolan Redman, Roberta Verderico, Joan Wagner, Warren Willard.

The September 12. 2000 vestry meeting minutes were read and corrected. The minutes were approved as corrected.

 

The Financial Report was read. The Episcopal Church in Almaden is on target with its annual budget. A motion was made by Warren Willard to approve the financial report as read by Ed Mueller. The financial report was accepted.

Old Business:

The budget was reviewed.

1. Joint venture budget shall include a breakdown of salaries for Christian Ed, organist and youth leader.

2. Add $500 for fellowship.

 

New Business:

Stewardship program was discussed.

1. Nolan’s stewardship letter will be mailed by October 18th. Break out items with narratives will be included on reverse side of budget sheet.

2. Stewardship drive will begin Nov. 5th and end on Dec. 1st.

Annual Meeting scheduled for January 14th, 20001.

Vestry Retreat will be held on Feb. 3rd.

Ministries Reports

Senior Warden: Brenda McHenry

Brenda attended the bishop’s meeting of Senior Wardens, Treasurers and Rectors held this past month. Treasurer’s reporting information was available. Comments were made concerning a parish’s care of rectors through budget, salary, and sabbaticals.

Jr. Wardens: Belinda and Russ

1. Amy Griffith will take over the Joint Venture Church calendar in January, 2001.

2. Rob Moore has not yet reported on S.J. Building Codes.

3. November 18 will be an interior work day at the church.

4. Joint Venture is leasing a new copier.

5. A building committee consisting of Alex, Russ, Nolan plus three UCC members has been formed.

6. Nolan has requested a set of building plans/costs to arrive by October 15th.

In reach/ Charitable Contributions: Terry Gooding

Outreach: Warren, Roberta, and Beverley

Worship: Ginger Redman

1. Welcoming Sunday is scheduled for November 19th.

2. Plans have been made for an Acolyte Recognition Sunday.

3. Celebration choir will continue.

4. Folk Sunday will be the second Sunday of the month.

5. Taize services will be held monthly, the last Sunday of the month.

6. Christmas pagent will be held on Dec. 17th at 10 am.

7. There will be regular church services held on Christmas Eve day as well as the traditional evening services.

Youth: Alex Dershimer

Linda Nollette has become the interim youth director. Advisors are needed.

Four thousand dollars has been allocated for the program.

Fellowship: Natalie Mena

Beverly Deveaux’s Fourth Day group will be chairing the ECA Christmas Party scheduled for December 16th.

Communications: Belinda, Russ

Christian Education: Susie Ferguson

Sunday school is going along just fine – working out quite well.

Growth:

Family Fun Day held on October 8th was a huge success. Plans are to hold two family fun days per year – one in the spring and one in the fall and these are included in the budget.
