Approval of Minutes

Recommendation: The Vestry minutes for 9/24/02 were reviewed and approved by all.

Finance

Len reported the investment side has lost money and the deficit was reviewed. The finance committee will send a letter to all parishioners encouraging them to attend and support our fundraiser.

After the fundraiser, a budget for the upcoming year will be prepared.

Fundraiser

Ken stated efforts for the Nov. 2nd fundraiser are progressing. The committee continues to meet every Friday night, auction items are being gathered/donated, and parishioners are volunteering their help. Everyone needs to sell tickets and tables; letters to AVUCC have been mailed and additional silent auction items are necessary.

Junior Warden’s Report

Allan reported the JV staff meetings are going well.

The effectiveness of advertising in Pac Bell Yellow Pages was discussed. The Vestry agreed advertising will continue and the wording updated. There will be no space increase.

Rector’s Comments

Lorraine, ECA Administrator, has begun compiling and reviewing church records and creating a database. There will be a new church directory and it will include children’s names.

There is a person in the church office each day of the week from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm to receive phone calls, assist visitors, and maintain the office.

Items for Discussion

Allan stated his concern there not being a link between the JV Board and the Vestry. The JV Board agrees on a budget and the Vestry is unaware of the decisions. Also, the question of who audits the JV Board and where is the check and balance system was raised. This is a viable concern and further discussion will continue.

Discussion of the approach/focus of the Stewardship Program will be continued at a later date.

JV By-Laws will be reviewed/discussed at a later date.

Long Range Plan

The Vestry reviewed, discussed and revised portions of the Long Range Plan.

Closing Prayer

Fr. Stephen

Respectfully submitted,

Elizabeth Blackman
