January 4 – February 1, 7am – 7pm
Village House, a rotating homeless shelter for homeless medically fragile women has asked ECA to participate as a daytime warming shelter from 7am to 7pm from January 4th to February 1st. Supporting this endeavor requires one shift supervisor, who will be trained, and two supporting volunteers. Supervisor shifts are 4 hours and volunteer shifts are two hours. Our Rector and Village House prevailed upon other churches in the area to help provide the required number of volunteers as a condition of ECA participating. Other Episcopal congregations as well as Catholic, Methodist and Mormon congregations agreed to assist so this wonderful ministry opportunity has become a reality.
The number of women guests may vary from 1 to 15, some have jobs, others do not. They are fed dinner and breakfast at the night shelters and are provided clothing, showers, and toiletries. ECA is responsible for providing cots for resting and lunch. We will be setting up computers and a printer, puzzles, art projects, reading material and movies if they choose to participate in any of these optional activities. They will be invited to join ECA services, bible study, and prayer sessions. We look forward to this new ministry and hope that you might consider joining us by volunteering.
