  • The Reverend Stacey Grossman

    INTERIM RECTOR

Stacey Grossman is an Episcopal priest whose ministry has taken place entirely in the San Francisco Bay Area; she has served four congregations as an intentional interim and had a long pastorate at the Church of the Nativity in San Rafael. She has also trained as a hospital chaplain.

Stacey has served on a variety of elected and appointed diocesan committees and counts her term on the Standing Committee – an elected body advisory to the bishop - as her most important ministry. She has been involved in Safe Church work, including leading a revision of diocesan safe church standards and policies. She taught Pastoral Theology at CDSP and conflict resolution in the field education program there. She also served as the diocesan intake officer for clergy misconduct complaints.

Stacey lives in Novato in Marin County, California with her Corgi Dazzle, who rescued Stacey during the Coronavirus Pandemic. She lives under monastic vows made in 2005 in friendship with the Order of the Holy Cross, an Episcopal religious order. While not engaged in the work of the church, she works in her art studio and works out at the gym. She loves all things Yosemite and is an avid contemplative photographer.

Vestry

In The Episcopal Church in Almaden, San Jose, the Vestry is a committee elected by the congregation to work with the Rector in managing the business affairs of the church and providing leadership to the parish. The basic responsibilities of the Vestry are to help define and support the mission of the congregation, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances.

From among the members of the Vestry, the Rector chooses a Senior Warden, who supports and works closely with the Rector to strategize and prioritize activities and needs. The Vestry elects the Junior Warden, who looks after the rectory, the facilities and property of the church. A slate of candidates for Vestry is voted on by all members of the congregation at the annual meeting. The term of each member is three years.

Each Vestry member is assigned as a liaison to one of the ministries of the church, such as Fellowship, Stewardship, Communication, Finance, Pastoral Care, and Outreach. There is also a Clerk of the Vestry, who takes minutes at the meetings, and a Treasurer to manage the accounting and financial systems and report to the Vestry. These two positions are not Vestry members.
